Henry County Health Center received two significant awards this summer. Both awards demonstrate how our community hospital is a leader in health care, and show our commitment to HCHC’s mission to advance the health of individuals and our communities.

Most Wired

Most Wired 2010Henry County Health Center has been named to the nation’s “Top 100 Most Wired Hospitals” list according to the results of the 2009 Most Wired Survey and Benchmarking Study released in the July issue of Hospitals & Health Networks magazine. HCHC is one of only two hospitals in Iowa to receive the “Top 100 Most Wired Hospitals” designation. HCHC also received this award in 2007, and in 2008 was named a top 25 Most Wired Small and Rural Hospital.

“This is a tremendous honor for the entire HCHC organization. To be recognized, for the third year in a row, for our advances in technology reinforces all the hard work and efforts of our Medical Staff and associates. Literally each and every constituent group of HCHC plays a very significant role in getting to these levels,” commented Robert Miller, HCHC’s Interim CEO.

“As we continue to look at technology to improve patient satisfaction, to enhance the quality of care we provide, and to support our patient safety initiatives, this award validates that we are part of an elite group of hospitals that will transform the health care system. Advancing information technology enhances quality of care in a more efficient way, giving our patients better service and outcomes, in lesser amounts of time, and in the most cost effective manner possible. The real winner of the benefits of this award is the community we serve.”

Revenue Cycle Award

Henry County Health Center also received the High Performance in the Revenue Cycle Award from Healthcare Financial Management Association (HFMA), a national award recognizing outstanding hospitals. HCHC is one of only 11 hospitals in the nation to receive this award, selected from over 5,000 acute care hospitals in the United Sates.

This award is significant because hospitals that meet or exceed the award criteria not only help confirm sound fiscal responsibility, but also display a meaningful measure of positive patient experience as financial communication is one of the primary indicators of overall patient satisfaction in hospitals.

Henry County Health Center CFO, Dave Muhs, FHFMA, added, “Excellence in revenue cycle management is more than just good fiscal practice for a healthcare provider. If done correctly and efficiently, it enhances the total patient experience with our facility. We are able to deliver accurate, correct and timely claims to insurance companies, and then able to communicate to patients in a manner so they can easily understand what, if any, responsibilities they have following the insurance process. This achievement was built upon internal teamwork, technology and partnerships, and everyone on the HCHC staff had a hand in this success. We are honored at the receipt of this award, and we see it as validation of the continued process to enhance services to our patients and our communities.”
